Objective

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a service in which a physician or dietitian develops a nutrition plan appropriate for a patient’s condition. MNT is important in the treatment of chronic conditions including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, and chronic kidney disease.

The objective of this study was to identify the utilization of MNT services in rural and urban communities by examining the population of Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) beneficiaries in 2016.
