Objective
Diabetes self-management training (DSMT) provides management skills to allow people with diabetes to improve their quality of life, clinical outcomes and health status. DSMT is recommended for all patients newly diagnosed with diabetes and as-needed after diagnosis.
The purpose of this brief is to identify the extent of the rural/urban disparity in the utilization of DSMT in fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare beneficiaries in 2016.
