Objective

Health and Behavioral Assessments and Interventions (HBAI) are recommended for primary care providers to identify behaviors that contribute to a disease state and modifying them to treat disease. HBAI is recommended for patients seeking care for diabetes, obesity, cancer, and HIV, as well as many other conditions.

The objective of this study was to further investigate geographic disparities and identify the availability of HBAI services in rural and urban communities by examining the population of fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare beneficiaries in 2016.
